Beginner Tennis Lessons – First  Experience with Tennis

Ages 6 – 8

This class is for students who have never played or taken tennis lessons previously.  This will be the first experience for the students with tennis lessons. The instruction will start with the basics and progress as the students progress.

Beginner  Tennis Lessons

Ages 6 – 8

This is a program of movement, balance, coordinated and motor skill development with a focus on self and partner rallying skills on a 36 foot court. Both reception and projection skills will be emphasized. Children will learn the first stages of cooperative tennis. The children will learn how to initiate a rally; how to move and judge a ball; how to control the racquet at the contact point and control the height, direction, and depth.

Beginner to Intermediate Tennis Lessons

Ages 9–11

Children will learn tactical play as they learn both singles and doubles. Swing rhythm on the forehands and backhands will be emphasized. The children will be introduced to topspin and will learn how to differentiate between a volley action and a ground stroke action. A variety of serve progressions will be taught and the serve and return of serve will be covered in each class.

Red Ball Tennis

Ages 5–7

At this level, the main focus is for the players to serve, rally, and score as soon as possible. We will also build on balance and coordination skills. We use a low compression red ball that stays on the racquet longer for better control and success.

Orange Ball Tennis

Ages 8–10

This beginner class uses a low compression orange ball that stays on the racquet longer for more control. Orange ball players will learn to refine the serve and ground strokes with increased direction and speed.

Teen Tennis

Ages 11 & up

The emphasis will be on the fundamentals of the game which include stroke production, terminology and scoring. Kids will learn basic footwork skills, refine ground strokes, change ball direction, move the net, volley, score a tie break, and learn the rules of the game.
