Welcome to our 20th Fall Season of Dance at SLPR!
We’re excited to see dancers leaping, twirling, and dancing in person this season at our dance studio, located at 404 Ellen Street, inside the World of Wonder building.
We are looking forward to planning a fun dance showcase to be held this fall for Wednesday, November 8th. There is an additional fee to participate.
Get ready to make memories, have fun, dance and learn new skills!
Classes are held at the SLPR Dance Studio located at 404 Ellen Street, Fenton MI 48430
Drop Off Procedures:
The Ellen Street Building doors are locked until all childcare is released at 6pm. For classes that begin before 6pm, we will pickup dancers at the gymnasium door entrance and bring them back to parents at the end of class. For classes that begin after 6pm, please bring your dancer to the dance studio door and pick them up outside the dance studio door.

Come learn the soccer basics in an SLPR soccer program. Girls and boys will participate in a non-competitive atmosphere with some game-like play, while learning basic skills and having fun. Participants will reinforce fundamental skills through drills and games. Emphasis on sportsmanship!

Adaptive Soccer Fun “ASF”

This soccer club is a special needs soccer program aimed at people ages 5 through adults who want to play soccer but are unable to participate in mainstream programs. The 8-week section features clinic-like sections that focus on conditioning, basic skills, rules of the game and most importantly, having fun. Parents and families are encouraged to participate by either cheering on the sidelines or occasionally taking the field to scrimmage, as they desire.
Lasting friendships have been developed between the players and families from Linden, Fenton, Swartz Creek, Davison, Grand Blanc, and more. This club has been invited to play at special events at local high schools and universities. The team is run by long-time Coach Jerry Davis with assistance from a crew of “Buddies” who help on the field.
Most events will be on Saturday morning from 10:30 am to noon starting on Saturday, August 26, 2023. There will be a total of 10 events with the projected last event being Saturday, October 28. There will also be 3 weekdays sessions withing this time frame.

Painting Dramatic Landscapes, Light & Luminosity

ALL SKILL LEVELS WELCOME!
Join master artist Denise Willing Booher and learn to paint dramatic landscapes in watercolors! All skill levels, including beginners, are welcome to attend. Denise will lead students through painting a luminous landscape in watercolor. You will learn how to work in thin layers of washes to build radiant colors and paint with strong, colorful fluid strokes. Denise will lead you step-by-step through demonstrating the painting process. Emphasis will be on what makes a good painting, planning the composition, good division of shapes, value planning, and what your art communicates while enjoying yourself!

- Paper – 2 sheets of Arches watercolor paper, 140lb cold press or 300lb cold press – 22” x 30” or watercolor block approximately 15 x 22 Suggest: Fabriano, Windsor Newton or another quality paper is fine) A better paper makes a big difference on how the paint lays on the paper. You will be painting a 15 x 22 painting.
- A Painting board – large enough to fit 15 x 22 sheet of paper taped down.
- Watercolor paint Palette with paint wells mixing tray and cover, Cheap water container.
- Paper Towels/Kleenex
- Brushes: 3 Round watercolor brushes, pick a small, medium, and large, 2” flat wash brush, 1 small, cheap brush for masking fluid. Suggested brands: Princeton Aqua Elite or Trekell Protégé
- Kneaded eraser. pencil, masking tapePaint -Bring the paints you normally use. Bring at least on set of primary colors tubes either warm or cool colors. Example: Cadmium Yellow, Ultramarine Blue, Permanent Alizarin Crimson. Suggest: Professional grade paints such as Windsor Newton.

Volleyball
2023 Regional Team Offerings
For the 2023 season Southern Lakes will offer the opportunity for a Regional Level playing program in the U15-U17 age groups. This program is intended to provide an option to players of high ability who are looking for an increased level of commitment to the sport. It is expected that these players will be playing volleyball as their primary commitment for the duration of the season. Regular practice attendance and increased play dates will be required for the success of the team. Player cuts will be made for the Regional commitment teams based on skill set and commitment level. Those players that are cut will be extended an invitation to the local team try-outs.
Players not selected for a Regional team, or who cannot fulfill the increased commitment level will be encouraged to attend placement evaluations for the LOCAL teams in mid – January 2024. More information will be available about this in the upcoming winter brochure. (The local program will offer select and recreational teams with a 4 local tournament playing schedule.)

Practices may begin as early as December 2023 with a full practice schedule beginning the first week of January 2024. Practices will be held twice a week. Tournament play begins in January – April. (10) Play dates are included. There will be a combination of single day tournaments and a minimum of (2) 2-day overnight tournaments. *Additional Cost: Player Uniform Order, AAU Student Athlete Card. NOTE: National Tournament in mid-June in Orland, FL will be discussed on a per team basis.

A meet the team night will be scheduled after team assignments are confirmed (early November).

This is a perfect clinic allowing participants to review the basic volleyball skills needed for the AAU program. Scrimmage time will be included in each of the dates. Each session will consist of a two-hour session split between skill development and scrimmage. 4 weeks/dates total.

Teams will play ten weeks of round-robin league play followed by an elimination tournament on the eleventh week. Teams play a minimum of three/two game matches per league night, barring any forfeits. All teams are seeded into the playoffs according to their final league standings.
