Be part of the fastest growing racquet sport in the country! Players will be introduced to the basics of Pickleball, including stroke techniques, singles, and doubles basic strategies, serving, scorning, and positioning. We will accomplish these objectives through dead and live ball drills, point play and actual game play. Pickleball is a great workout and social experience.
Players must have their own Pickleball paddles.

Players will be exposed to strategies and techniques to refine their level of play. We will be looking at dinking from the nonvolley line as well as practicing and understanding how touch and power can complement each other. Players will use the third shot drop to their advantage and learn how the lob is used in defensive play. We will accomplish these objectives through dead ball, live ball point play and actual game play with coaching. Players must have their own Pickleball paddles.

Welcome to the Winter-Spring Dance Season at SLPR!
Welcome to our 21st Winter-Spring Season of Dance at SLPR!
We are excited to see dancers leaping, twirling, and dancing to the beat this season. Our dancers will be dancing in person this season at our dance studio, located at 404 Ellen Street, inside the World of Wonder building.
We are very excited for this season – and for our Annual Spring Dance Recital. The SLPR Spring Dance Recital is scheduled for Saturday, May 10. The dress rehearsal is scheduled for Friday, May 9. For dancers to participate in the spring recital, we do ask for them to be to enrolled in both sessions. If a student registers for only session 2, recital participation is not guaranteed and depends on costume availability and the class.
Costume and Recital fees are due by: February 11, 2025.
The Ellen Street Building doors are locked until all childcare is released at 6pm. For classes that begin before 6pm, we will pick up dancers at the gymnasium door entrance and bring them back to parents at the end of class. For classes that begin after 6pm, please bring your dancer inside to the dance studio door and pick them up inside at the dance studio door.
We are looking forward to a wonderful winter-spring dance season: making memories, having fun, dancing and learning new skills!

DANCE CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Ballet & Pointe Classes
Participants will learn graceful ballet techniques in this fun class. Please wear pink ballet shoes. *Pointe students must be 11+ years and have prior approval from the instructor.
Hip Hop
Kids will learn trendy hip hop moves and get a fun workout while doing it! Great class for those looking to stay active! Please wear clean tennis shoes. (Street shoes are not allowed on the studio floor) Please bring a water bottle.
Poms
Dancers will learn upbeat moves focusing on jumps, turns, progressions, routines, kicks, and more! Class geared to keep kids moving and grooving and having fun! Please wear tennis shoes and bring a water bottle.
Kickline & Jazz
5,6,7,8! This class will work on jazz inspired choreography, focusing on moves such as kicks, turns, and formation changes. Black character shoes are recommended.
Lyrical
Learn fun, flowing, routines. Learn turns, leaps, jumps and more.
Tap
Participants will learn toe-tapping steps and fun routines. Please wear black tap shoes.
Middle School/High School Dance
This class will focus on developing and perfecting combinations and technique. This class is open to any student in middle school or high school. Classwork will place an emphasis on lyrical, contemporary. and ballet. No dance experience required 🙂 Please wear lyrical shoes or ballet shoes. Lyrical shoes preferred.

The Artist’s Apprentice – Fashion Extravaganza Camp

Do you have a Passion for Fashion? Let’s hit the runway with a flashy frenzy! This drawing camp will launch you on your way to expressing ideas in a way that sets them apart with professional appeal! We will be learning about body structure and balance of movement as we creatively express these concepts. Our young visionaries will be exploring various ways to set forth their innovative intentions by designing outfits in numerous sketches using ink washes with graphite, colored pencils, and markers.
Other projects will include a charming paper sculpture, using specialty white papers on black card stock, and creating faerie gowns from nature elements that we scavenge we gather from an outdoor excursion. A fun use of tissue paper and watercolors will culminate in a large-scale project. This is a great opportunity to utilize that creative mind of yours, so let’s start making those gorgeous garments! ‘A Fashion Debut’ will be extended to families on the final day of this unique summer camp.

Do we love color? Yes we do! Let’s get out our ROY-G-BIV (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet) colors and attempt the challenging task of learning how to paint a rainbow, one that looks real as it is seen in nature. Outdoor activities include making a rainbow ‘bubble snake’ that will be used as a colorful backdrop for the most brilliant rainbow anime characters! Kids will be working on landscapes and colorful animals like rainbow fish, chameleons, peacocks, iridescent beetle bugs, and fancy roosters. Isn’t there something splendid about a prism?! We will be learning about the fracturing of light in another fun outdoor activity! Colored pencils will be used, including shimmer colors, chalk pastels, paper quilling and paint. Experimental practices will be utilized like beautiful ink applications. You will be impressed with our colorful art that will be presented in A Gallery Show following class on the final day!

Challenge Island is an award-winning STEAM enrichment program where smart and curious kids work together in “STEAM Teams” to solve fun, hands-on “challenges” which teach them about STEAM fundamentals and crosscurricular topics, plus important success skills like creativity, critical thinking, problem solving and much more. Each of our summercamps focus on a positive atmosphere packed with activities and learning, with the goal of encouraging children to be more confident and excited about their skills in STEAM and working together.
Pet Palooza STEAM Camp

Wag on over to the most PAWSOME camp in town!
You and your STEAM Team will engineer a world created just for pets, from Pet Palooza Hotel Day to Having a Ball Day to Give a Dog a Bone Day to Salty Sea Dog Day to a very special Rescue Pets Day. You’ll even get to adopt adorable pretend pets of your own and create habitats to match their needs and personalities! This STEAMtastic camp gets two paws up and is a must for every pet-loving kid!
Students should bring a snack and water bottle each day, as we will take snack and play breaks when possible.
For students who sign up for both camps, they will be welcome to bring a sack lunch and stay to eat with our instructors from 12-1pm each day at no extra charge.

Slimetopia 3 STEAM Camp – Slime Chefs on Deck!

Prepare to stir up the most delicious-looking slime recipes on the Seven Seas! You and your STEAM Team have been chosen to be slime sous chefs on the S.S. Slimetopia cruise ship, and it’s up to you to “feed” the slime-hungry passengers morning, noon and night! You’ll mix up Cotton Candy Slime, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Slime, Rockin’ Ramen Noodle Slime and Banana Split Slime Sundaes (just to name a few)! Coming off the success of our Slimetopia 2 camp last year, Slimetopia 3 is sure to sell out in a squishy, squashy splash, so book your cruise cabin ooey, gooey fast! (Note: Although the slimes in this camp may look and smell yummy, they will be for playing, not for tasting!

With the help of their ally STEAMaroo, a clever and friendly kangaroo islandmon, our STEAM Teams will tackle an island full of engineering challenges as they evolve into true STEAM Champions. Ready? Slimetopia 4: Once Upon a Slime Camp

Grades: K-5
Once upon a time, there was a bestselling camp that turned favorite children’s books into fantastical slimy adventures. Students will work in small STEAM Teams to mix up new slime classics like Alice’s Unbirthday Cake Slime, Charlie’s Everlasting Gobstopper Slime, Percy’s Blue Cookie Slime, Narnia’s Turkish Delight Slime and STEAMwarts Butter Beer Slime. In addition to making two slimes a day, every camper will also receive a copy of our book Surprise at Blow Cart Beach: A Challenge Island STEAM Adventure, which is filled with slimy science and treasures.

This program designed and coached by Ultimate Athlete Performance will develop speed and strength to increase performance on the field for athletes. This will include sprint technique coaching, specific drills to increase sprint performance and power output, strength training to build muscle mass, and conditioning to increase endurance.
If you are an athlete that is looking to increase their speed and strength on the field, this program will be great to add to your arsenal as an athlete. This training can be used alongside any other practices/sports an athlete may be participating in over the summer. Groups will be broken up into Middle School (MS) – 6th 7th and 8th Graders and High School (HS) – 9th grade and up.

Children & Adult Family Karate
Ages 5 to adult
Fenton Karate is a family orientated Martial Arts School. Here you will learn the traditional art of Tang Soo Do; it is a karate-based Korean Martial Art. The techniques of Tang Soo Do combine elements of Shotokan karate, Soo Bak Do, Taekkyon, and Kung Fu. We also train in Hapkido, a form of self-defense that employs joint locks and throwing techniques.
Children and Adult Family Karate is for children ages 5 + as well as adults. Our program emphasizes on self-defense, physical fitness, conflict resolution, teamwork, and anti-bullying techniques with traditions of discipline and respect. Our goal is to enhance your confidence, focus, self-control, and provide a fun way to exercise.

Hapkido
Age 13 – Adult
Hapkido is an ancient Korean Martial Art that emphasizes the development of each person’s internal energy, or “ki”. Practice of the art strengthens both the mind and the body, leading to improvement in one’s physical development and mental attitude.
For Self Defense Hapkido is unsurpassed! It combines the many punching and hand striking skills of boxing, Kung Fu, and Karate, the takedowns and throws of Judo/JuJuitsu, the fancy kicking techniques of TaeKwon Do, and many unique joint locking & pressure point skills to make it the most effective and complete form of Self Defense ever devised.
Philosophically, Hapkido stresses humility, self discipline, self-control, loyalty, and respect for others. Together, these aspects of Hapkido provide the means for attaining along and healthful life.

The Art of throwing and grappling. Great for athletic people, helps develop “close quarters” Self Defense skills. The class will emphasize many more throws and takedowns than a standard MMA/Wrestling program. Great coordination, confidence, and physical strength are developed by regular Judo practice.

Tennis Program
This is a program for all ages. Basic, intermediate, as well as advanced skills will be taught. Learn tennis in a fun and creative atmosphere. Beginners will learn all the basic skills needed to eventually play tennis matches and to play out points. For the more advanced students, lessons will be tailored to meet those individual needs to improve skills and advance to that next level. Match play opportunities as well as competitions will also be offered for those who wish to have more of a challenge.*
