SLPR Executive Director – Job Posting

Southern Lakes Parks & Recreation (SLPR), in partnership with the Fenton Community & Cultural Center (FCCC), is seeking a visionary and dynamic Executive Director to lead both organizations into their next chapter of growth and service. SLPR is a multi-community recreation authority serving the City of Fenton, City of Linden, and Fenton Township, offering enriching programs that support health, education, arts, and community engagement.
About the Role:
The Executive Director serves as the chief administrative officer of SLPR and FCCC, responsible for the overall leadership, strategic planning, fiscal management, and operational oversight of both organizations. This position plays a critical role in cultivating partnerships, enhancing community engagement, overseeing facility operations, and expanding high-quality recreational, cultural, and educational programs for all ages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of SLPR and FCCC, ensuring alignment with mission, goals, and strategic plans.
- Provide sound financial oversight, including budget development, grant management, and long-term financial planning.
- Oversee programming development and implementation across youth, adult, and senior services, as well as facility rentals and events.
- Direct marketing, communications, and public relations strategies to promote community involvement and program participation.
- Serve as liaison to the SLPR Board of Directors and FCCC Board, preparing reports, strategic recommendations, and policy updates.
- Supervise and support a dedicated team of staff, instructors, and volunteers.
- Foster relationships with local governments, schools, nonprofits, sponsors, and stakeholders to enhance regional collaboration.
- Oversee facility management and long-term capital improvement planning for the FCCC.
Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience in recreation, education, nonprofit, or municipal management.
- Strong background in budgeting, personnel supervision, program development, and community outreach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build trust and collaboration across diverse groups.
- Strategic thinker with a passion for serving the community through inclusive, impactful programming.
- Experience with board relations and working within a multi-jurisdictional structure is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Parks & Recreation, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Education, or related field.
- At least 5–7 years of progressive senior-level leadership experience.
- Familiarity with Michigan’s municipal operations, recreation funding models, or community engagement strategies.
