Scholarships for SLPR Programs

SLPR is pleased to announce that scholarship funding is available to those who qualify.

Southern Lakes Parks & Recreation has received Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from Fenton Township via the Genesee County CDBG program. We are happy to announce that the funds have been reserved for SLPR program scholarships. Eligible participants may apply for $150 per family to be used for registration into any of SLPR’s many programs.

The funds are not limited to children and may be awarded to and used for adult programs as well. We have a limited amount to be granted for this Summer.  Applicants must apply and meet the criteria, and scholarships will be awarded on a first come, first served basis.

Fenton Farmers Market 2021

We are looking forward to a fabulous Market Season in Fenton! The Fenton Farmers Market opens Thursday, May 20th and runs every Thursday until October 14th.  Shoppers can shop Thursday evenings 5pm to 9pm on the front lawn of the Fenton Community & Cultural Center. (150 S Leroy St, Fenton MI 48430).  Stop by Thursdays and shop your local Fenton Farmers Market!

Our Market vendors and our Market shoppers are some of the best! As a friendly reminder, please be mindful of practicing social distancing while shopping the Fenton Market.  Facial coverings/masks are required to enter the market space. Out of safety of for our pet friends and the public, pets are not be allowed within the market space.

Market Vendor Websites 

Shop and order online and pick up at the Market! Not all market vendors have websites, but for those that do, we have them posted below.  (This information will be posted as it becomes available for the 2021 Fenton Market).  Please communicate directly with the market vendor with regards to your order and payment and pick-up instructions. We encourage shoppers to order/pay ahead from market vendors, if at all possible.

$220 for 1 space – $275  for 2 spaces (10 x 10)
Day Payers: $20 for 1 space, $25 for 2 spaces (provided space is available)
Vendor Hours: 3:30pm (Set Up)

SLPR is currently looking for instructors for several programs.  Recreational programs are a fantastic way to give back to the community, meet new people, and earn extra money!  Be a part of the fun! Contact SLPR today if you are interested in applying for one of these positions.

  • Life Skills Instructors
  • Kids Sports Instructors
  • Instructors with a background in nature classes
  • Art Instructors for youth and adult
