Southern Lakes Parks & Recreation is taking applications for a full time Athletic/League Programmer and Event Coordinator. Ideal candidates should have a flexible schedule, be self motivated and community minded.
General Description: Under the general direction of the Parks & Recreation Executive Director, the Recreation and League Programmer reports directly to the Director and the primary responsibilities are as follows:
o Plan, develop, and coordinate recreation programs and leagues
o Develop program budgets
o Supervise recreation instructors and league coordinators
o Maintain communication and correspondences with instructors and class participants
o Maintain recreation and sports equipment inventory
o Plan and execute special events, sports camps, and tournaments
-Other responsibilities per the Executive Director
Essential Knowledge and Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Community Recreation and Parks Administration or related field or equivalent experience in a related field is preferred. Qualifications include proven experience in developing and managing a variety of youth and adult athletic programs, leagues, and tournaments. Knowledge of team sports leagues, instructional activities, and recreation services. Proficient use of computer software, including on line registration and facility scheduling, Microsoft Office and design software is essential. Good writing skills required and understanding of budget development and implementation.
Previous experience in parks & recreation environment/school administration office desirable. Experience working with volunteer groups, service clubs and individuals. Previous supervision of part-time employees desirable. Self-starter work ethic. Proficient use of computers, knowledge of filing systems and use of office machines.
Some weekend and evening work required. Some light to moderate lifting required.
