Learn to create beautifully etched glassware quickly and easily using this special chemical etching process. The instructor will walk you through the process while teaching you everything you need to know to create more beautiful glassware and gifts at home. Students will complete a beautiful glass project in class!

Denise Willing-Booher is a working artist that lives in Fenton. She shows her work regionally, nationally and internationally. Denise has run the award winning DWB Design Studio for over 30 years. Her work is in private and corporate collections. Denise currently is the Vice President of the National Watercolor Society as well as a Signature member and the past Chairman of the Michigan Watercolor Society.

Plein Air Watercolor Workshop

Ages 16 to adult

Learn how to paint on location with watercolor. Plein air painting is about experiencing painting and drawing in the landscape. This practice goes back centuries and is so rewarding. Supplies needed listed below. Denise Willing Booher is a working artist that lives in Fenton. She shows her work regionally, nationally and internationally. Her work is in private and corporate collections. Denise has won two FIA Applewood Estate Plein Air Competitions. Her work is in private and corporate collections. Participants, please bring necessary supplies listed below:

  • Watercolor paint: One tube of each primary color
  • Watercolor block or stretched paper 14 x 20 or smaller
  • Brushes: Flat wash, #12 & #8 round brush
  • Water dish, pencil, kneaded eraser, portable easel or board for lap, visor

Learn how a professional artist makes a living creating art. Kids will use the provided tools, materials and objectives to make an art project. Individual and team work will be done. Art can be messy, please bring a paint shirt.

•   Illustrate a book, do a painting commission, create a mask, design a logo for a business, create an illustration for a customer

Be an undercover artist and solve mysteries through art. Kids will take provided tools, materials and clues and make an art project to solve multiple cases. Art can be messy, please bring a paint shirt.

Project examples:
•   Make a book of codes, a fake passport & create a disguise
•   Hide a camera or listening device in a sculpture
•   Create art illusions that are so real it fools the eye

Kids Painting & Art Camp

Young artists will explore different mediums and techniques while completing two projects each day, displaying their new skills. New fun and exciting projects will include: watercolor pencil, a camp t-shirt, (2) 8×10 acrylic painting, a picture frame, drawing skills (drawing supplies will go home with students) and painting their own glass lunch plate! Be sure to wear painting clothes to class. Please bring a cotton t-shirt (with your name inside) to paint the first day of class. Children may bring a snack and drink to class (NO NUTS please).

Sculptor Culture! ART for Kids!

$200 Discounted for residents

Sticky! Picky! Sometimes icky! Your kiddo will be involved in several fun and satisfying SCULPTURE ventures on these sunny summer afternoons. Get ready to get messy as we explore all sorts of modeling and carving projects! Our young artists will be making bas relief objects with paper-mâché artwork including a recycled element. We will also explore, face structure, (human or animal), in a clay, glitter paint piece and learn the basics of carving in styrofoam. These pieces will be somewhat reminiscent of Niki de Saint Phalle, so fun! If time permits we will be making a sculpture painting out of plasticine. Sign up today and come join the Summer Fun! A Viewing of Creation will be extended to family following class on the final day. Taught by Artist/Instructor Pamela Palmer owner of The Artist’s Apprentice.

Manga Madness!

I Love Japanese Cartooning! Fans of this popular style will learn some valuable techniques to help their characters come to life. We will also be examining a different genre each day including shoujo, chibis, and cat people, (Wear your tails and ears if you want!). Students will be designing their own story boards complete with inking to create a professional effect. Pop up projects, fun mini art assignments will occur daily. A Gallery Show of the students’ work is extended to families after class on the final day.
