Neal Levin’s Cartooning workshop is a fun and exciting way for kids to learn to draw. The class is designed to provide young artists simple skills that are easy to learn and inspires creativity.

Kids Painted Flower Pot

Material Cost: $5 payable to instructor at first class

Ages 7 and up

Students will have fun painting their own flower pot as the instructor teaches the fun techniques. Students, please bring any size flower pot painted white. Please pay $5 to instructor at the beginning of class.

Clay Works

Ages 7 and up

Does your child like working with their hands? Clay is an ever pleasing medium for the Art Kids in your family! In these fine arts instructional segments students will be working with self-drying clay, using a caliper and modelling tools to make pottery and 3D Sculpture projects. If time permits we will shimmer paint our work! A ‘Viewing of Creation’ with will be extended to families following class on the final day. Wear clothes that are not precious, we will get messy!

$25 material fee payable to instructor at the first class

The Artist’s Apprentice-Kids’ Wood Burning & Drawing

$65 Resident, $75 Non-Resident

Ages 10 and up

Pyro graphics anyone? Where there’s smoke there’s…all these kids getting creative with wood! What can be more compelling than to blaze our mark in an art form everyone wants to try? Students will be learning basic skills of wood burning as we venture to gain dexterity in this ancient craft. Our subject matter will be Celtic and Inuit animal designs inspired by visual references and your child’s creativity! A Gallery Show of the students’ art will be extended to families following class on the final day.

(Note: We will be working with a hot wood burning tool, so please consider your child’s level of maturity.) $25 Material fee payable to instructor on the 1st day.

The Artist’s Apprentice- Japanese Cartooning

Ages 7 and up

Ready for a little Manga Madness! This art class will give Manga/Anime fans the unique opportunity to learn many techniques and improve their skills on Japanese drawing. Young artists will gain experience in drawing a variety of genres, including Chibi and
Shojo. A Gallery Opening will be extended to families following class on the final day.

Art Fun! Sketching in the Fast Lane

Get ready for 2 hours of fun as we break the rules of sketching and learn to be quick on the draw! We will discuss art as an enjoyable means of self-expression and learn different techniques to help free your mind and get your creative juices flowing.

Linda Widing is an accomplished artist from Fenton, Michigan painting murals and furniture both residential and commercial. Her acclaimed “Personality Sketches” are being displayed throughout Michigan and are available for purchase.

Kids Holiday Ornaments

$15 Resident, $25 Non-resident
$10 supply fee paid to the instructor

Ages 7 and up (7 and under may attend with a parent)

Learn to paint beautiful ornaments that will last forever. Each child will paint two holiday themed ornaments. Instructor Donna Roskamp will walk you through the steps as you complete the project during class. The instructor will provide all the supplies.
