Tennis

Classes are designed as a fun introduction to the sport of tennis through play and exercise. We offer several levels of tennis from Little Tykes Tennis to School Age Tennis.

Beginner Tennis
Ages 6 – 8

$50 Resident
$60 Non-Residents

This is a program of movement, balance, coordinated and motor skill development with a focus on self and partner rallying skills on a 36’ court. Both reception and projection skills will be emphasized. Children will learn the first stages of cooperative tennis. The children will learn how to initiate a rally, how to move and judge a ball, how to control the racquet at the contact point and control the height, direction, and depth.

Beginner to Intermediate Tennis Lessons
Ages 9 -11

$50 Residents
$60 Non-Residents

Children will learn tactical play as they learn both singles and doubles. Swing rhythm on the forehands and backhands will be emphasized. The children will be introduced to topspin and will learn how to differentiate between a volley action and a ground stroke action. A variety of serve progressions will be taught and the serve and return of serve will be covered in each class.

Youth Tennis Program
Grades 1-4

$60 Residents
$70 Non-Residents

Open to players ages 6-10

At this level the main focus is for players to serve, rally and score as soon as possible. Object of this class is to get players familiar with the racquet, ball movements and strokes.

Middle School Tennis Program – Grades 5-8

$60 Residents
$70 Non-Residents

Open to players ages 11-13

At this level the main focus is for players to serve, rally and score as soon as possible. We will also introduce shot selection, dynamic footwork patterns and an understanding of offensive and defensive play situations.

Class will be taught by Donald Leavy, USPTA and PTR Certified Tennis Professional

High School Tennis Training – Grades 9-12

$60 Residents
$70 Non-Residents

Open to players ages 14 -18

At this level emphasis will be on the fundamentals of the game which includes stroke production, terminology and scoring. Players will learn footwork skills, refine ground stokes, change direction of the ball, move to the net, and volley in game base drills.
