Introduction to Sailing
$80 Discounted for residents
$90 Regular fee for non-residents
(Cost includes a basic sailing handbook)
Students must be 16 years or older (Please contact the Lake Fenton Sailing Club for opportunities for those under 16 yrs.).
This class is for anyone who thought they might like to sail but have never tried or for people looking to get back out on the water. You do not need your own sailboat to sail!
This program will start with one or two (1.5 hour) sessions on land about the basics of sailing and sailing terminology, then 2 sessions on the water practicing skills with sailors on Lake Fenton, and finally participating “crewing” in a sailboat race in one of our Wednesday evening (6:15PM) or Sunday morning (10:30 AM) sailboat race weekly regattas. Students will be exposed to a variety of different kinds of sail boats and sailors. Some sailors have been sailing their entire lives while others have only been sailing for a few seasons. You’ll be able to ask questions, socialize with other sailors and get to know what it’s like to harness the wind.
