Friday Night JUDO & Ju-Jitsu

$40 Discounted for residents
$50 Regular fee for non-residents

Judo is a Japanese Martial Art from the Samurai. It was developed and brought to fruition by its founder O-Sensei Jigoro Kano in 1882. The best techniques were combined from several different historic martial art styles. It was created during a time that Japan was modernizing itself as a country and could be used for one’s own development and education. It espouses maximum efficiency of the use of one’s own physical and mental energies as a guiding principal; it is a martial art of balance. There are groups of techniques (waza) for both standing and grappling. One of the initial techniques is learning how to perform break-falls (ukemi), so one can be safe regardless of the different standing techniques being applied. Judo is a soft style martial art and is often seen in today’s MMA contests and the Olympics. It is only second in popularity to soccer around the world. In addition to Judo class, there is an opportunity for extra practice and to compete at different tournaments as part of the Fenton Judo Club.

Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga is for every body. No need to be fit, flexible, or have prior yoga experience. This is an introductory level course and performed sitting in a chair. For those who can’t get on the traditional mat, chair yoga can offer wonderful health benefits. It provides greater flexibility, improved muscle tone, increased energy, and help alleviate joint pain from arthritis. It also reduces stress and improves mental clarity. This class is perfect for our wheelchair bound participants of all ages and excellent for our seniors too. Register for twice a week and save.
