The Artist’s Apprentice – Just Dragons!

Hear yee!  Hear yee!  All DRAGON LOVERS unite. Come along with us as we learn to draw these mystical creature.  Young artists will get creative with a self-drying clay project featuring a baby dragon of their design with shimmer paints to bring out the magic in our wee beasts!  A Gallery Show will be presented to families following class on the final day.  Artist/instructor Pamela Palmer, BFA.   Ages 7 and up.  Middle Schoolers encouraged!

Sticky! Picky! Sometimes icky! Your kiddo will be involved in several fun and satisfying SCULPTURE ventures on these sunny summer afternoons. Get ready to get messy as we explore all sorts of modeling and carving projects! Our young artists will be making bas relief objects with paper-mâché artwork including a recycled element. We will also explore, face structure, (human or animal), in a clay, glitter paint piece and learn the basics of carving in styrofoam. These pieces will be somewhat reminiscent of Niki de Saint Phalle, so fun! If time permits we will be making a sculpture painting out of plasticine. Sign up today and come join the Summer Fun! SLPR Fall Season – NOW OPEN!

SLPR Fall 2019 Season

The fall season at SLPR is now open for registration! There are a variety of programs and classes for everyone of all ages.  Meet new people within the community and stay active this fall with a class at SLPR!  

The SLPR Fall Brochure is hot off the press! It will be in the Sunday, August 18th edition of the Tri-County Times.  Elementary students at Fenton, Lake Fenton, Linden and St. Johns will also bring home a copy with the start of school.  Brochures are also available at the Fenton & Linden libraries and local municipalities.

Fall Adult Softball League

Fall Adult Softball League – NOW FORMING!

The SLPR Adult Softball League is a fun recreational softball league for adults ages 25 and older. Each team is allowed two players under the age of 25.  The league format will consist of double header games on Sunday nights, with each team playing two games. 1st game is 6pm, with the 2nd game at 7pm.   Space is limited to 8 teams.  12 player minimum, 15 player maximum.  Each team is responsible for paying the umpires before the games.  ($15 per team, per game – CASH only)

Sundays, 5:00pm to 8:00pm.  

Beginning late August.  6 week season.

Art & Design Camp

Art & Design Camp with Denise Willing-Booher – starts NEXT WEEK! This is a great class for students ages 12-16. Snacks and drinks are provided.

Learn how a professional artist makes a living creating art. Kids will use the provided tools, materials and objectives to make an art project. Individual and team work will be done. Art can be messy, please bring a paint shirt.

Project examples:
• Illustrate a book, do a painting commission, create a mask, design a logo for a business, create an illustration for a customer

Get ready for summer dance  – there is lots of fun to be had at the SLPR Dance Studio.  Twirl on over for a ballet, tap, hip hop, lyrical, pom or creative motions class.   Classes available for children ages 18 months and up.

Looking to volunteer at a GREAT event?  Look no further – volunteer with the Fenton ArtWalk.  There are many great spots that need helping hands.   We have volunteer spots available on Friday, July 12th and Saturday, July 13th.  

Sign up to be a Fenton ArtWalk Ambassador and help greet the artists arriving to town.  Or, sign up to work the Dot Survey – which creates its own visual artistic masterpiece right in the heart of the event.  Interested in doing a little bartending?  We have a few spots available for those volunteers 21 and over. Teen volunteers can use hours towards high school community service hours.  Adult volunteers will enjoy getting to know more people in the community, while having fun engaging with artist vendors and patrons of the event.
